Located near the City Palace and Hawa Mahal, the Jantar Mantar is an architectural masterpiece constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of the historical city of Jaipur. It was constructed in 1734 and stands as the world's largest stone sundial. It is also a UNESCO World heritage site.

Jantar Mantar in Sanskrit means 'calculating instrument'. The site allows the observation of astronomical positions with naked eye. The observatory that operated on the three main classical celestial systems assisted many generations.

The intricacy of the instruments in the monument is splendid and reflects on the early scientific methods.
