Shah Jahan's first architectural marvel, and the capital's largest mosque, Jama Masjid is a beautiful pocket of calm at the heart of Old Delhi's mayhem. The fascinating marble and red-stone architecture is built on an elevation of 10 meters and can accommodate 25,000 devotees at a time. The mosque has a set of two minarets that are as high as 40 metres; the minarets can be climbed for amazing views.

Here's a tip for you, after seeking blessings from Allah, treat your taste buds with some lip-smacking food near the mosque. The place is famous for the chicken and mutton dishes. Aslam Chicken, Al Karim, Al Jawahar, Kallan Sweets and Cool Point are a few famous shops here serving aromatic biryanis, piquant chicken changezi, mouth-watering fish tikkas, succulent kebabs and sweet Shahi Tukda
